Veterans’ MATES is an accredited continuing professional development (CPD) learning activity for participating pharmacists and general practitioners. Activity requirements are detailed below.

RACGP QI & CPD Points

GPs who receive and complete any two Veterans’ MATES topics and complete the activity steps are eligible for 40 Category 1 points.

ACRRM Professional Development Program

GPs registered in the ACRRM Professional Development Program that complete any Veterans’ MATES topic and complete the essential requirements of a clinical audit, are eligible for 16 Extended Skills points.

Proton Pump Inhibitors (Aug 2018)
About one in five of us have heartburn from gastro-oesophageal reflux at one time or another. A short course of a medicine such as a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) can be very effective for relieving these symptoms. If you have been taking a proton pump inhibitor for longer than eight weeks for heartburn, ask your GP whether you still need it. They might suggest that you take a lower dose or take a dose only if you have symptoms.
